For me being the constant traveler that I am, being a travel agent just made sense. I was just putting feelers out there for a possible group trip destination to my dream Airbnb on Facebook, and then ended planning the whole trip and had the $3000 Airbnb deposit paid in 2 days with a fully booked group of 13 ladies I have never met. I was approached by a travel agent in my Facebook messages who was one of the ladies going on this trip and asked if I was a travel agent. It was something I was always interested in doing but I never knew where to start. When she told me the trip I had just planned so effortlessly in 2 days could have made me over $1000, I was definitely interested.
Not only could I make a significant income on what I was already spending my time and enjoyed doing, but this allowed me to travel smarter and make money back on my own travels. By becoming an independent travel agent I could now make an added income and all around my busy lifestyle working in the airline industry and traveling on most of my days off.
Did you know that every booking you make has commission built-in? When you become an independent travel agent not only can you save those commissions on your own travel, you can also earn by booking days out, staycations, vacations, and all sorts of travel for friends and family too! Or in my case all but one of my clients have been total strangers.
My hairdresser referred her friends to me that were planning their Maui honeymoon and boom my first client was a $7000 booking. Then someone on my Facebook posted asking for advice on travel agents, of course I responded and we chatted over messenger. She price compared with me with Costco and other booking sites and my price came in the most affordable and perfect for what they were looking for. That ended up being my 2nd booking for a family of 5 to Maui and another $7000 booking. Mind you I have never been to Maui. She shared about how amazing this was on her Facebook and then her friends started reaching out to me to book trips.
Then I did my first payment plan booking for my friend and her sister for a Vegas trip, as well as a lady I buy makeup through that needs airfare & activities for her families Maui vacation. With travel opening up fully and mandates going away, everyone is traveling and summer is coming so people are booking right and left for vacations.
Whether you just want to book and save on your own travel, earn commissions by booking for others, or if you are looking for a way to give you the time and financial freedom through a residual income like me then this is for you!
It’s a great biz whether you are looking for:
Perks & bonuses:
Pay:
The commissions vary depending on the company you book through but I have planned a lot of Hawaii & Mexico trips where I got paid out $400-$500 for one trip and that was before I started charging a $50 booking fee. You can choose to charge a booking fee or just make the commissions. So definitely good money if you are putting in and doing the work.

We having a great university training program that goes over all the basics of booking travel. It’s 10 hours to complete then you are certified to register with travel companies.
